"The task of the modern educator is not to cut down jungles, but to irrigate deserts." -CS Lewis
My college coursework consists of a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Visual Communication and a minor in Art History. I previously studied art and humanities abroad in Rome, Italy and I was an art instructor at the Philbrook Museum of Art. I changed directions on my college and career path and decided to fine tune my interpersonal and management skills with a Master’s Degree in Human Relations - emphasis in Organizational Development, Interpersonal Communication which I received in 2002.
I am currently working on my PhD in Education - Research emphasis in International Education Studies and Education Technology with a Graduate Certificate in Global Issues. I have also attained my Oklahoma Board of Education Teaching Certificate in English Second Language; as well as, an ESL certification from Oxford Seminars with emphasis in grammar and classroom application.
I enjoy teaching at the college level and my primary goal as an instructor is to establish an understanding with my students of the importance of international relations and global education. I believe that education and open mindedness is the key to fostering positive human relations among culture groups around the world.
I have been married for 12 years to my husband Barrett and I have 2 amazing kids Ethan (10) and Ella (5). My family and I love spending time together outdoors, riding bikes, working puzzles, playing games and watching movies. We are involved in our community on multiple levels; including food drives, plays and musicals, and community service through our church and my son’s Taekwondo facility.
